Editorial standards
How Dating in Your 40s researches, writes, reviews and corrects what it publishes.
Sources
Every factual claim links to its source, and each source says which claim it supports. We prefer peer-reviewed research, government and institutional data, and established universities. We report findings with their limits: who was studied, when, and whether the research shows a link or a cause.
What we never do
We never invent statistics, quotes, credentials or experts, and we never present an illustrative scenario as a real person's story. We never rank experts or accept payment to include anyone. We carry no ads and no sponsored placements.
Review and dates
Each article shows who wrote it, when it was published and when it was last updated. Articles on sensitive subjects such as breakups, loneliness and divorce include crisis resources.
Who writes these articles
Bylines on this site are pen names, not real people. Each article is drafted with AI from the cited research, checked against its sources, and approved by our editors before it is published. The scenarios in articles (for example, a person and their age) are illustrative composites, never real people. Pen names carry no bios, photos or credentials.
Experts and outside reading
Our experts page and further reading are our own picks of outside voices, videos and articles for Dating in Your 40s readers. We check each public profile and link, label where someone's authority comes from, and remove entries that stop holding up. Being listed is not an endorsement, and nobody pays to be included.
Recommendations
Some pages end with a short note recommending an app. We have a commercial relationship with the company that makes it. The recommendation is kept separate from the article, and it never changes what an article says or which sources it cites.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page address. We review every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and note significant corrections on the page.
Privacy and what we measure
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. On article pages we also record, anonymously, how long the page was actively read, how far down it was scrolled, whether the interactive was used and whether the recommendation link was clicked. There are no cookies, no identifiers and no personal data, and nothing is shared with advertisers. We use these counts to decide which questions to write about next.
